How it Works

Have you ever wanted to hear a loved one be interviewed about their life? We all know what it means to hear a familiar voice. Perhaps you would like to be interviewed yourself? Why not make it happen? Make that permanent testament.

I travel across Great Britain interviewing people about their life, family, and much more. Recording, editing and hosting the audio, to access forever. Simply book a date, entering some basic information about the interviewee and any particular questions that you want me to ask. This is an invaluable record - and it makes the perfect present too.

flexible on timings. I will go wherever needed to record the interview, or it can be done virtually over Zoom. On the day, the interview can start as quickly as you wish, without much need for set up. It can be very relaxed, over a cup of tea or even a glass of wine.

After the interview, I’ll edit the audio, upload it, and send it to you via an unlisted YouTube link or directly. This should take less than a week, but will be a lasting memory. The interview will of course remain totally private, and yours to share as you see fit.

About

My name is Max Briston

I grew up and was educated in Somerset, although I was born abroad, in Singapore where my father worked. Now 26, I have worked at Google and The Spectator magazine.

I am now based in London, and greatly enjoy interviewing a variety of interesting people. To get an idea of how I interview, please listen to an interview of my grandmother, where this all started:

Reviews

His Honour David Morton Jack

"The lives of ancestors, the twists and turns of fate and how the family became what it is today are now safely chronicled for future generations."

Alice Clark

"Max is a very charming and intelligent person who put a lot of time and thought into interviewing my mother.  We wanted to have a recording of her childhood memories and thoughts before time ran away with her, and Max spent two hours interviewing and condensing some wonderful stories and conversation with her.  These we will treasure and pass on to our children.  I couldn’t recommend him more highly."

Tiggy Morrison-Corley

"I put my husband up for the interview... so that I could have his voice with me forever. We were thrilled with the outcome."

Nick Lemis

"Max Briston offers a very professional interviewing service.  Last month Max interviewed my mother virtually.  His interviewing style is gentle but enquiring enough to allow the subject matter to flow.  The edited/finished product is fantastic.  I understand Max offers a number of interviewing services; I am positive Max would bring out the best of any circumstance.

Rosemary Morton Jack

"He was very easy to talk to and delightful company... Max listened to my husband’s family history, making notes and asking occasional questions but never interrupting.

Adrian Burchill

I found it such a worthwhile and hugely enjoyable experience. His pre-interview research guided the discussion effectively, and he was an amazing interviewer; sensitive, probing, interested with a keen sense of humour too!
